INFORMATION
In the spirit of the Sidney Velo Time Trial, we are proud to keep this long standing event going under the new name, the Panache Time Trial. From April to August, rain or shine – the riders decide whether it’s too wet to race. Open to all ages of cyclists and paracyclists, in aerodynamic and non-aerodynamic (Merckx) categories.
Location: Corner of Wain Road and Littlewood Road in North Saanich. Course heads east on Wain Road, Turn Right on West Saanich (North), Turn Right on Lands End (East), Turn Right on Hwy 17 (South), and then turn right on Wain Road (East). Riders will be doing 2 Laps of 9.8 km for a total of 19.6 km.

$15 per race ($12 for U19). Cycling BC Cycling for All Membership or Race License or UCI License is required.

PARKING
​
Time trial participant and spectator parking is along the west side of Littlewood Road. Please do not park at nearby residential roads.

Insurance: Every rider MUST have insurance – a Cycling BC Ride for All or Race License, or an UCI Race Licence. If you don’t have one of these, you must buy one at www.cyclingbc.net. We no longer sell licences at the time trial.

On-line registration only and registration is open only from 7 AM to 4 PM on the day of the race (No refunds). Early registration does not ensure an early start time, as riders will be started from slowest to fastest.

A timing chip will assigned to each rider. TIMING CHIP MUST BE RETURNED AFTER THE RACE
Rider's who do not return their timing chip will have to pay $75 to Zone 4 timing.

Registrants will start from 7:01 PM for all race dates.
​
If you do not pre-check online, arrive at Start by no later than 6:45 PM to collect your Timing Chip and start time.
U18 riders must email a completed Parental Consent form to info@panachecyclingsports.com before their first time trial of the season.

Rules

Holding this time trial on public roads is a privilege. We must obtain approval each year from North Saanich, the RCMP and the Ministry of Transportation. We must abide by their rules or the privilege can be revoked at any time.

Riders must abide by the rules below or they will be barred from participating in the time trial:

Time Trial Categories
We offer competition categories for male and female cyclists and paracyclists of all ages: U13, U15, U17, U19, Senior (19-29), Veteran (30-39), and Masters in 5-year age groups from 40 to 80+.
​
We are continuing the traditional aerodynamic (open) class, and adding a non-aerodynamic (Eddy Merckx) class for ages 19 to 80+, to encourage participation and competition among cyclists, who do not wish pursue the aerodynamic arms race entailed in the open, aerodynamic class. U19 riders will compete in accordance with Cycling BC young rider equipment rules.

The fastest competitor in each age/gender/class category with at least 3 time trial times recorded is recognized with an award at the end of the season at our Awards Banquet.
​
The aerodynamic category also has trophies for Fastest Female and Male, the Fastest Master (40-59) Female and Male, and Fastest Grand Master (60+) Female and Male.

The restrictions for the Eddy Merckx, non-aerodynamic class are:

Standard road bikes with standard drop handlebars, no aero bars or bull horns, no disc wheels, wheel covers, or tri-spoke wheels, and no aero time trial helmets.
