The 1st Annual River City Gravel Fondo kicked off the Trek Gravel Series presented by Mosaic Forest Management yesterday. It was met with huge success and praise from participants as 178 gravel cycling enthusiasts from all over BC tackled gravel routes in the pristine area West of Campbell River.
Participants were able to complete 1 of 3 distances: a 35km Impulso, 70km Intermedio, or an iconic 120km Esperto.

In the 120km Esperto, Fabian Merino won the men's overall with a blistering time of 3:53:05, edging out Cody Scott who finished 2nd. In 3rd place was McKay Vezina.
In the women's race, Katja Verkerk won the 120km Esperto with a time of 4:41:10 ahead of Eleanor Winchell in 2nd, and Wanda Reddin in 3rd.
